RETINA & UVEA CARE

Retina & Uvea Care at Perfect Vision Laser Eye Hospital, Jaipur

The retina converts light into signals that travel through the optic nerve, while the uvea supplies blood and includes the iris, ciliary body and choroid. Disease in these structures may affect central or peripheral vision, sometimes without pain. Early diagnosis can be important because retinal damage may become permanent.

Retinal symptoms depend on the area involved. Macular disease affects detailed central tasks such as reading and recognising faces, while peripheral retinal disease may first cause shadows or field loss. Uveal inflammation can affect the front, middle or back of the eye and may produce pain, redness, floaters or blur.

A retinal consultation combines symptoms with direct examination and imaging. OCT provides cross-sectional detail of the macula, wide-field examination checks the retinal periphery, and angiographic tests evaluate circulation or leakage when indicated. Tests are selected to answer a clinical question rather than applied identically to every patient.

The retina lines the back of the eye; the uvea includes the iris, ciliary body and choroid.

1. When should you seek retinal care?

New flashes, a sudden shower of floaters, a curtain-like shadow or sudden loss of vision

Distortion, a blurred central patch, difficulty reading or colours appearing less clear

Diabetes, high myopia, previous eye injury or surgery, inflammation, or a family history of retinal disease

2. How the retina and uvea are evaluated

  1. Dilated examination

Drops enlarge the pupil so the vitreous, macula, peripheral retina and optic nerve can be examined.

  2. Targeted imaging

Optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photography, angiography or ultrasound may be selected according to the suspected condition.

  3. Diagnosis-led planning

Observation, systemic disease control, medicines, laser, injections or vitreoretinal surgery are considered according to cause and stage.

3. What retina care may involve

Medical retina

Diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, vein occlusion and inflammatory disease often need imaging-led monitoring or treatment.

Surgical retina

Retinal detachment, macular hole, significant epiretinal membrane and vitreous haemorrhage may require surgery.

Uveitis care

Inflammation is classified by its location and cause; eye treatment may be coordinated with medical specialists when systemic disease is suspected.

4. Important safety guidance

  • Sudden flashes, floaters, a dark curtain or abrupt visual loss requires same-day ophthalmic assessment
  • Dilating drops can temporarily blur near vision and increase light sensitivity, so arrange safe travel
  • Treatment and visual recovery depend on the diagnosis, duration, macular involvement and health of the whole eye

Every eye is different. The right procedure is the one that fits your cornea, your lens, your retina and the way you use your vision every day — not the one that is most advertised. Technology supports the decision; it never replaces the clinical evaluation.

“They say, god is around you! Well, we are so grateful, delighted to meet Dr Veerendra / Dr Anita and their entire staff. I feel blessed that they did everything to ensure to get properly diagnosed. Despite weekend and extremely busy schedules and Covid special time, they took utmost care and managed competing priorities. We are falling short of words but still trying our best to express gratitude. We are truly blessed & thankful for early diagnosis. Thank you so so much and we will do my best to follow your advice to the T. You guys are amazing and we surely recommend this place a modern temple to get your periodic proactive eye check ups or any other ophthalmic issues. Way to go!”

“The staff and doctors were very nice and there was not a very long wait time. Great organization and system in the hospital. All the eye tests were super easy to understand and were done efficiently. The doctors were very gentle and caring giving tissues whenever needed and checking if you are ok. I definitely would recommend this hospital for any eye problems or even just a checkup. My doctor was Dr. Neha Patak, she was extremely soft spoken and really caring. Salik was very gentle when lifting eyelids and that was very much appreciated.”
