RETINA & UVEA CARE
Uveitis
Uveitis means inflammation inside the eye. It is classified as anterior, intermediate, posterior or panuveitis according to the main site involved. Causes include immune-mediated disease, infection, injury and, in many patients, no identifiable systemic cause. Correct classification matters because treatment that helps one cause may worsen another.
Anterior uveitis often causes pain, redness and light sensitivity, while intermediate or posterior inflammation may be less painful and present with floaters or blur. The pattern, laterality, recurrence and retinal findings guide the search for a cause.
Treatment must control inflammation while preventing avoidable medicine-related harm. Eye pressure and lens clarity are monitored during corticosteroid therapy. When long-term systemic immune suppression is needed, laboratory monitoring and coordination with an appropriate physician are part of safe care.

1. Symptoms needing assessment
Eye pain, redness, light sensitivity or blurred vision
New floaters, haze, reduced contrast or a missing area of vision
Recurrent inflammation, symptoms in both eyes or associated joint, skin, bowel, respiratory or neurological illness
2. Diagnosis and treatment pathway
Locate the inflammation
Slit-lamp and dilated examination assess inflammatory cells, retinal or choroidal lesions, eye pressure and complications.
Investigate selectively
OCT, angiography, ultrasound, blood tests or chest imaging are chosen from the clinical pattern rather than ordered indiscriminately.
Treat the cause and severity
Therapy may include dilating drops, corticosteroids, antimicrobial treatment or systemic immune-modifying medicine with specialist coordination.
3. Why follow-up is important
Response must be measured
Symptoms can improve before inflammation is fully controlled, so drops should be tapered only as directed.
Complications can be silent
Macular oedema, cataract, glaucoma, retinal damage and optic-nerve problems can develop during disease or treatment.
Infection must be excluded
Steroids suppress inflammation but can worsen untreated infection, making self-medication unsafe.
4. Urgent and long-term guidance
- Severe pain, marked light sensitivity, sudden floaters or worsening vision needs prompt ophthalmic review
- Do not start, stop or rapidly reduce steroid drops without the treating ophthalmologist's advice
- Recurrent or systemic uveitis may require coordinated care with a physician, rheumatologist or infectious-disease specialist

Every eye is different. The right procedure is the one that fits your cornea, your lens, your retina and the way you use your vision every day — not the one that is most advertised. Technology supports the decision; it never replaces the clinical evaluation.

Despite weekend and extremely busy schedules and Covid special time, they took utmost care and managed competing priorities. We are falling short of words but still trying our best to express gratitude. We are truly blessed & thankful for early diagnosis. Thank you so so much and we will do my best to follow your advice to the T. You guys are amazing and we surely recommend this place a modern temple to get your periodic proactive eye check ups or any other ophthalmic issues. Way to go!”
“The staff and doctors were very nice and there was not a very long wait time. Great organization and system in the hospital. All the eye tests were super easy to understand and were done efficiently. The doctors were very gentle and caring giving tissues whenever needed and checking if you are ok. I definitely would recommend this hospital for any eye problems or even just a checkup. My doctor was Dr. Neha Patak, she was extremely soft spoken and really caring. Salik was very gentle when lifting eyelids and that was very much appreciated.”
