Dry eye diagnosis and treatment in Jaipur Tear film disorders causing burning, grittiness and fluctuating vision.

DRY EYE CARE

Dry Eye Diagnosis and Treatment

Dry eye develops when the eyes do not make enough tears, when tears evaporate too quickly, or when the tear film lacks the right balance of oil, water and mucus. It is often long term and may be influenced by age, medicines, eyelid-gland dysfunction, prolonged screen use, contact lenses or environmental conditions.

Burning, grittiness, redness, tired eyes, light sensitivity and blurred vision that clears after blinking are common. Watering can also occur because an irritated eye produces reflex tears. Symptoms may worsen later in the day, during driving, or in air-conditioned, dusty or windy surroundings.

Assessment and diagnosis

Assessment starts with the pattern of symptoms, medical history, medicines and daily visual demands. The ophthalmologist examines the eyelids, meibomian glands, tear meniscus and ocular surface with a slit lamp. Tear break-up time and surface staining may help show whether evaporation, reduced tear production or inflammation is contributing.

Treatment and practical care

Care is matched to the cause. It may include preservative-free lubricating drops, warm compresses, lid hygiene, screen breaks and protection from direct fans. Associated allergy or eyelid inflammation may need treatment. Selected patients may be offered prescription drops or an in-clinic procedure after examination; no single product suits every form of dry eye.

Follow-up and expectations

Dry eye usually needs consistent care rather than a one-time course. Follow-up checks whether the surface is healing, symptoms are improving and the plan remains suitable. Daily habits, correct drop technique and treating eyelid-gland disease are often as important as changing brands of lubricant.

Risks and limitations

Treatment can improve comfort and visual stability, but permanent resolution cannot be promised. Drops may briefly sting or blur vision, and frequent use of unsuitable redness-relief drops can aggravate symptoms. Severe untreated surface disease can occasionally damage the cornea, so persistent symptoms deserve examination.

“They say, god is around you! Well, we are so grateful, delighted to meet Dr Veerendra / Dr Anita and their entire staff. I feel blessed that they did everything to ensure to get properly diagnosed. Despite weekend and extremely busy schedules and Covid special time, they took utmost care and managed competing priorities. We are falling short of words but still trying our best to express gratitude. We are truly blessed & thankful for early diagnosis. Thank you so so much and we will do my best to follow your advice to the T. You guys are amazing and we surely recommend this place a modern temple to get your periodic proactive eye check ups or any other ophthalmic issues. Way to go!”

“The staff and doctors were very nice and there was not a very long wait time. Great organization and system in the hospital. All the eye tests were super easy to understand and were done efficiently. The doctors were very gentle and caring giving tissues whenever needed and checking if you are ok. I definitely would recommend this hospital for any eye problems or even just a checkup. My doctor was Dr. Neha Patak, she was extremely soft spoken and really caring. Salik was very gentle when lifting eyelids and that was very much appreciated.”
