Ortho-K Lenses at Perfect Vision Laser Eye Hospital, Jaipur

Ortho-K, short for orthokeratology, uses specially designed rigid gas-permeable contact lenses worn during sleep to temporarily reshape the cornea—the transparent front surface of the eye.

The lenses are removed in the morning, helping suitable patients see clearly during the day with less dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

How does Ortho-K work?

Your eye-care professional maps your corneal shape and checks your prescription before fitting customised lenses. Overnight wear gently changes the corneal surface, improving how light focuses.

The effect develops over successive nights. Follow-up visits help assess vision, lens fit and eye health.

Key benefits

  • Night-time correction: Lenses work while you sleep and are removed on waking.
  • Daytime convenience: Suitable patients may manage daily activities without glasses or contact lenses, although results vary.
  • Non-surgical and reversible: No laser or incision is involved. The reshaping effect gradually wears off when treatment stops.

Who may be suitable?

Ortho-K may suit selected children and adults with short-sightedness, including some with astigmatism. Suitability depends on prescription, corneal shape, eye health and the ability to follow lens-care instructions. Children need parental supervision.

Ortho-K’s temporary effect and variable daytime correction are explained in FDA patient guidance.

Every eye is different. The right procedure is the one that fits your cornea, your lens, your retina and the way you use your vision every day — not the one that is most advertised. Technology supports the decision; it never replaces the clinical evaluation.
