Perfect Vision offers specialised YAG laser procedures for selected eye conditions. These are generally outpatient treatments performed without surgical incisions after a detailed eye examination.
YAG Laser Capsulotomy
After cataract surgery, the thin capsule behind the artificial lens may become cloudy, causing blurred vision, glare or reduced contrast. YAG capsulotomy creates a small opening in this cloudy capsule to restore a clearer visual pathway.
YAG Laser Iridotomy
YAG laser iridotomy is used for narrow-angle or angle-closure glaucoma. A microscopic opening is created in the peripheral iris to improve fluid circulation and help prevent a sudden rise in eye pressure.
YAG Laser Vitreolysis
Selected persistent eye floaters may be treated with YAG vitreolysis. The laser targets suitable vitreous opacities to make them less visually disturbing. Not every floater is suitable; a complete retinal examination is essential before treatment.
YAG Laser for IOL-Related Opacity
Sometimes cloudy capsular tissue, pigment or deposits around an intraocular lens may affect vision after cataract surgery. This treatment—sometimes called “YAG polishing of the IOL”—uses laser energy to clear suitable opacity from the visual pathway. It does not physically polish the artificial lens, and not every form of IOL clouding can be treated with YAG laser.
YAG laser is different from the specialised laser used for retinal diseases. The appropriate procedure is recommended only after evaluating eye pressure, the retina, the implanted lens and the expected visual benefit.
